Chemical Injection

Chemical injection involves injecting polymers, surfactants, and alkalis into the reservoir to improve oil recovery. Polymer flooding increases the viscosity of the injected water, improving its sweep efficiency. Surfactant and alkaline flooding reduces the interfacial tension between the oil and water, mobilizing the trapped oil. This technique is widely used in China's Daqing and Shengli fields.
